I love urban wetlands. It always amazes me to find these little pockets of nature in the midst of a city or town. Wetlands filter stormwater, help mitigate floods, provide habitats for wildlife, and provide community space for recreation, education and nature connection. A win on all fronts and an essential part of sustainable urban planning. I spent a couple of hours at Glen Iris Wetlands in the middle of Melbourne, enjoying the water, the wildlife and the afternoon light.
